Self Care Workshop - HeartSpace Center - Opening the Heart: Connecting in Kriya, Chanting & Community

The breath holds us and carries us through this life without effort, and we often give it little to any awareness.

In this Opening the Heart: Connecting in Kriya, Chanting & Community offering, we will begin by harnessing the power of our breath through Kriya. Kriya is often used in Kundalini Yoga by practicing sets of a combination of breath, mantra (repetition of a word or phrase), mudra (specific placement of hands) and movement, with an internal drishti (focus or gaze). We will practice a 30-minute Kriya to Open the Heart Center, inviting the breath to welcome us into deeper connection with the heart and with Self.

As our Kriya practice concludes we’ll welcome heart connection in community to close our time together through a chanting practice.

In this practice we use the method of mantra meditation. As Krishna Das, “Chant Master of American Yoga” (The New York Times) says,

“Chanting (Kirtan) is a part of the path of Devotional Yoga. When we see the beauty of our own being, we are seeing the beauty of the Being that is the One of which we are all a part. And when we turn towards that One, love is the natural reaction of the heart.”

Let’s fall into the heart space together, into that love, through Kriya, Chanting, & Community.
